This Sunday Valley Park Stables hosted a Winter Fun Horse Show and both Madeline and Carmen participated. It was a long day but it was a lot of fun too. Both Carmen and Madeline picked up two first place finishes in separate events and many other ribbons as well. Carmen won $5.00 in a unique event where the participants have to hold a dollar bill between their leg and the saddle while they walk, trot, canter, etc. The last person in the arena with the dollar bill still in place wins all of the money. It was challenging but Carmen looked like a winner from start to finish in that event. Both girls also got to compete on a couple of different horses which would not be normal for them in a formal show.
Incredibly we also bumped into a friend of Shelley's from work who was at the show with her daughter and other family members. They had also brought along Cammy, who Carmen and Madeline have known for years. The girls originally met at Clive Children's Center and it took a minute to figure out why these people that we know were at the horse show together. It was good for some very funny looks, some laughs and then was really nice to visit and catch up on things during the show. By the way... it was darn COLD in the stables today. We are looking forward to more events outside, just as soon as it warms up about 20 to 40 more degrees!
